Handsworth residents are reassured as measures are being taken to prevent future road accidents in there area.A number of speed bumps are to be installed by the Street Force group, in the Finchwell road area, Handsworth as a part of the traffic controlling scheme in place by the council.
Due to the roadworks, the road will be closed and local diversions will be put in place. The council are also to put in a 20mph speed limit in the same area, covering all roads to the north and east of Handsworth Road from St Joseph Road to Oakley Road.
PSCO Anna Smith from Woodhouse Police said. "Local residents are to be made aware that will be some noise around that area on the day as the workers begin the building. However we hope these improvements by the council will make the roads safer."
Work will also be done on Beaver Hill Road, with the addition of 2 bus friendly road humps. Also to be done will be the conversion of several grassed areas to paths to accommodate new pedestrian crossing points and improvements will be made to the drains, street lights and road markings.
Queries on the construction work should be questioned on the Street Force Helpline - 01142734567.
A local resident said, "I am glad changes have been made. Any accidents that have happened in the past could have been prevented, and now hopefully they will."
