Students flock outside in sunny Sheffield

By Danielle Tucker

Students in and around Sheffield flocked to the Devonshire Green area yesterday as temperatures reached 20 degrees in the City, making it the hottest day of the year so far.

It is a far cry from the snowy weather Yorkshire and the rest of the country experienced not 2 months ago, when everyone was trawling the shops looking for the last pair of wellies to get them through the 3 inch thick snow fall.

People Fill up the green

This beautiful Wednesday afternoon saw a stark contrast as groups of youngsters filled the green area armed with ice creams and portable BBQ's.

The area is one of the few green spaces in the city centre and is a popular attraction to those looking to make the most of the higher temperatures, being situated in a central location.

Sheffield Hallam Student Nigel Norman said: "With this beautiful weather you can't not go and take advantage of it. We've been here all afternoon, and plan on having a BBQ later."
With the weather forecasted to drop in temperature once more next week, its seems most people are looking to stay out in the sun whilst its here.
